IMPERFECTLY PERFECT

HANDS, HANDS, HANDS!
Russell Powell is an accomplished oil painter and creator of a unique handstamping technique.

His method is to create a portrait on his hand and then transfer the image to paper. Handstamping, which took over two and half years to refine, utilizes both color and black and white ink. Although each portrait is created on a 18 x 24 raised surface, each piece is incredibly detailed. Many of his subjects are historic figures, indigenous people and exotic animals.

A self-taught artist, Russell has been teaching elementary school art for the past sixteen years in Campbell, outside his hometown of San Jose, California. He credits his students as a major source of inspiration for his work. To showcase the products of his passion Russell founded Pangaean Studios in 2012.

Most recently, Russell was proud to be featured on the cover of Content Magazine. Videos of his handstamping process have garnered millions of views on popular social media platforms and have been applauded by celebrities including Rohan Marley, Run DMC, Cedric The Entertainer, amongst others.

At the 2016 Global Citizen Rally, Russell had the privilege of handstamping a portrait of Nelson Mandela on attendees, which was displayed on stage during the Eddie Vedder and Beyonce performance. He also had the honor to gift handstamp portraits to Malala and Ruby Bridges, two women whose contributions have advanced human and civil rights causes.

Russell donates his work and money from commissioned pieces to causes he is passionate about, including the water protectors and documentary efforts taking place at Standing Rock. A truly caring artist, he recently partnered with Make Love Not Scars, an organization raising awareness for victims of acid attacks in India. Russell created a handstamp portrait of a survivor, which hangs in one of their clinics. He also works with the Vernon Davis Foundation for the Arts, which provides youth programming.

He has truly created a new method of art. And it works! His artworks with his hands have that touch others don't have. And thats something truly special.

ENDLESS CHOICE OF COLORS

MAGIC PEN?
Imagine being able to draw or write with any color in the world, not just the color(s) of the ink that come with your pen. Say hello to the Scribble Pen, a smart pen with a special ink cartridge and scanner that can replicate any color.

Billed as the "last pen you'll ever have to buy," the Scribble Pen promises to let you "scan" colors simply by touching the RGB color sensor built into the top of the pen onto a colored object. Want to doodle with an exact shade of red from a rose? Touch the pen's scanner to its petals. Must color your BB-8 drawing with the right orange? No worries, touch the Scribble Pen to a BB-8 toy and get coloring. Itching to make a poop emoji masterpiece for your loved one? Go ahead and scan that turd you just squeezed out. OK, maybe don't do that, but you get the idea.

The Pen's smart ink cartridge "connects to a smart micro pump that recreates the color you have scanned." According to the product's website, the ink is water-resistant and won't ever fade. We have no idea how long the ink will last, only that you'll be able to "write for miles with each generous, affordable ink cartridge."

Truly a revolutionary tool to make art.

Chelsey White is a self-taught baker from NYC who views cakes as playgrounds for her creativity. Her original designs will amaze you, because Chelsey can pull off everything – she even baked a cake with fried chicken and waffles on top! White also shares her skills on YouTube, where she uploads easy-to-follow “How-To” recipe videos.

With over a quarter-million followers and videos that regularly generate hundreds of thousands of views, White is an Instagram celebrity. She used to sell cakes to her fans, but now she makes money selling the concept of cake, in conjunction with such partners as the Food Network and AwesomenessTV.

"I'm getting way more money from content creation than I was from cakes," said the 26-year-old. She declined to get into the details of her contracts, but said she now earns more than she did when she was accepting eight cake orders a week, at about $100 each.

She really tells us that you can make art in food! Putting art in food creates something special. Look at her skills!

And look at how cool this taco looks!

WATCHING YOU EVERY MOVE

MIRROR OR ARTWORK?

Daniel is an artist, educator and developer working in the area of interactive digital art. As an interactive artist, Rozin creates installations and sculptures that have the unique ability to change and respond to the presence and point of view of the viewer. In many cases the viewer becomes the contents of the piece and in others the viewer is invited to take an active role in the creation of the piece.

Even though computers are often used in Rozin's work, they are seldom visible. As an educator he is an Arts Professor at ITP where he teaches classes related to art, fabrication and physical computing. He was born in Jerusalem and formally trained as an industrial designer. His work has been exhibited widely with solo exhibitions in the US and internationally and featured in publications such as The New York Times, Wired, ID, Spectrum and Leonardo. His work has earned him numerous awards including Prix Ars Electronica, ID Design Review and the Chrysler Design Award.

His works are spectacular. Works that are the results of years spent in the research and direct application of software and in studying the potential of new technologies. Works that focalize on the concept of “mirror” with admirable perseverance. That means the direct and formal translation of the everyday interactivity that an object as the mirror is able to create with everyone that stares at it.

The originality and simplicity of all the works by Daniel Rozin born during deep studies and a ten-year experience on how PC technologies are able to answer differently to the spectator point of view, physically involved with an active role and part of Rozin’s installations. Artist and researcher able to create his own mathematic expression codes, reluctant to the use of software introduced in a massive way on the market, Rozin has produced during a long carrier tons of works and interactive installations/mirrors, not necessarilyfocused on an evident manifestation of technology, but ruled by a hidden dialogue between physical material, recycled material, everyday material and computer exactly.

Wow. He really shows us that when you combine art and technology you can make something out of the box, something unique, different, and cool. When we stand in front of his masterpieces, we become part of his artwork. That's something we rarely see in the world. Well, every artwork has a different style. And I love this style :)
